Michael Gerson - Obama's Health Reform Ship Flounders - washingtonpost.com

Michael Gerson - Obama's Health Reform Ship Flounders - washingtonpost.com: "Around midnight on April 15, 1912, there were a few minutes when Capt. Edward Smith of the Titanic realized his ship was going down -- six watertight compartments breached, less than two hours to float -- yet his passengers slept in happy ignorance. A historical fate hardened while most of the participants dreamed on.

The jobs report last week opened a long gash beneath the waterline of President Obama's legislative agenda. Few realize it, but a scramble for lifeboats is about to begin."

This is one of the best leads to a story that I have ever read. I don't know if he is right, but it is a compelling metaphor. How do you top it? Maybe the Hindenburg.

The delays recently announced in the Congress allow time for the whole "health care reform" notion in Washington to take on more water. Perhaps the realization is setting in that the TRILLIONS required in new taxes will sink the economy much like the Titanic.

The "cap and tax" bill is similarly taking on water in the Senate, where global warming believers are becoming increasingly desperate in the face of mounting evidence that there is no global warming and that carbon dioxide is far less harmful than they allege. Similar to "health care reform," the cap and tax scheme will destroy the U.S. economy.

It appears we have a choice between the Obama agenda and the continued survival of the U.S. economy. If either "health care reform" or "cap and tax" are passed, this economy goes the way of the Titanic very fast.
