U.S. military report warns 'sudden collapse' of Mexico is possible - El Paso Times

U.S. military report warns 'sudden collapse' of Mexico is possible - El Paso Times: "EL PASO - Mexico is one of two countries that 'bear consideration for a rapid and sudden collapse,' according to a report by the U.S. Joint Forces Command on worldwide security threats.

The command's 'Joint Operating Environment (JOE 2008)' report, which contains projections of global threats and potential next wars, puts Pakistan on the same level as Mexico. 'In terms of worse-case scenarios for the Joint Force and indeed the world, two large and important states bear consideration for a rapid and sudden collapse: Pakistan and Mexico."

Maybe they should hit up the TARP program for a bailout.
Seriously, political correctness keeps the American press from saying much about how bad things are in Mexico. There are few places in the world where drug gangs deliver baskets of heads as warnings to the government not to get too frisky. The border area is chaotic, the Mexican military and federal police have always been corrupt and are now heavily infiltrated by the drug gangs, and the Mexican judiciary, prosecutors, and local governments are running scared with good reason.

Professor,

We are told that there is no such thing as a dumb question. Having said that, do you think they have HOAs in Mexico? Can anyone imagine what the Board could do to you if you violated a rule, bylaw, or covenant?

If our own U.S. government won't reign in rogue HOA Boards, just imagine what could happen if you sought justice in a Mexico HOA?

I believe there are condominiums and gated communities. Latin America has lots of them. In fact, there were condominiums in Puerto Rico that were the evidence used to convince Congress and the FHA that they should authorize mortgage insurance for them here.
Good point on the lack of control, but consider this. The Mexican government and courts are so awful and so corrupt that the private governments may be better than the public governments. How's that for a scary thought?
