August Ends With Near-Record Cold; Temperatures Close To 47-Degree Low - cbs2chicago.com: "Usually, late August is time a when Chicagoans are thinking of hitting the beaches or lounging in the sidewalk cafes one last time, but this year, the temperatures have seemed more appropriate for Halloween.

The record low for Aug. 31 is 47 degrees, set in 1872. Overnight Sunday into Monday, the nippy readings were close, and in some areas even lower."

-----------
It was cold all month, and 49 last night at O'Hare. As the article says, we had one day all month when it went into the 90s. We should be lying on the beach but we are wearing sweatshirts. No wonder so many people think global warming is a hoax. It may not be scientific, but when a mild summer is followed by a cold winter, and then you go into a cold summer, it's hard to convince people that we are cooking the planet.

Weather does not equal climate.

True. Tell that to Al Gore and the global warming crowd, who invariably claim that every hot summer proves the earth is getting hotter. But when it is unusually cold, they fall silent, so I like to remind them that turnabout is fair play.

But doesn't Al Gore use long range climate charts and not a month's temperature data from one city?

He may be right about a warming in the climate but wrong about the contributing factors.

Al Gore has made 100 Million dollars with his global warming hoax. People who have bought into the lie will insist, with a straight face, that even the cooler than normal temps are the result of the more politically acceptable/palatable "Climate Change" (aka global warming).

I guess people will buy just about anything they are told.
