BBC News - Unwanted homes in Irish Republic could be demolished

They have been called the 'ghost estates' of the Irish Republic - about 300,000 homes built in the frenzy of the property boom that no-one wants to live in now.

They look like HOA-burdened homes.

Love the comment from the interviewee: "God, we were conned" (David McWilliams, Economist)

Undesirable indeed.

"Theoretically you know you are paying a mortgage on a house that is valueless"

"..homes worth now less than half of what they were"
