New playground rules: No lone adults - Miami Beach - MiamiHerald.com

New playground rules: No lone adults - Miami Beach - MiamiHerald.com: "Beginning Sunday, anyone 18 or older could face a fine -- or at least get shooed away by police -- if found in a Miami Beach playground without a child.

Intended to protect children from predatory adults, the new rule is part of a national trend -- a municipal corollary to kids-required policies for grown-ups at children's museums."

Interesting--the article goes on the say that New York City and San Francisco have laws like this already. Hard to see why San Francisco would bother. There are hardly any children there to protect. It's basically just the homeless and the yuppies and their dogs. All the kids seem to be in the Exploratorium, but I saw plenty of "unaccompanied" adults there...very suspicious.

And constitutionally dubious. Not every single adult is a chester..where's the probable cause and freedom to travel and associate here?

Yes. This society seems to have turned the corner on civil liberties and even the idea of limited constitutional government. Now we go straight from being afraid of something to restricting our freedoms, with no real objection being voiced by anybody. I remember when you could get on an airplane without being treated like an international criminal. Remember when there was no such things as a red light camera and getting a ticket in the mail six weeks later? When the cops had to actually see you driving the car through a red light and catch you? And judges insisted on silly 18th century notions like the Bill of Rights?

Next they will be stopping anyone whom is 18yrs and up from attending G-Rated movies, because every one in these ages could most likely be sexual predators. What up with this law? It is telling us that any one who is 18yrs and up is automatically classified as a predator, If you are these ages and you walk through south pointe park to go to the restroom at (miami beach) in which they put right by the water park, or for any reason you are a predator. It is a public park so why do you put the public restroom by the water park and set a stupid rule like this it doesn't make sense. What happened to children playing in their own back yard and what happened to watching your children and if they get out of sight of the adult punish them for not obeying. And if you are going to have rules like this put a fence around the playground, fence the children out of society and make special public restrooms for 18yrs and up... It might be a good idea to give all parents background check before they come to the park with their own children have you ever thought that they may be sexual predators, and they are around other peoples children? What can you expect from these people that make these kind of laws and also look at the monies the city will make how convenient. Well we should just live in a society where we nor our children should trust anyone or even try to fit into the society because according to this law everyone who is 18yrs and up are now sexual predators. How ignorant can people really be? Because you have a couple of people acting a fool at the park punish the entire world 18yrs and up and see how the tourist think America is that much more stupid. I am against child Molesters but punish them and not everyone else...
