Solar power game-changer: 'Near perfect' absorption of sunlight, from all angles

Solar power game-changer: 'Near perfect' absorption of sunlight, from all angles: "Researchers at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute have discovered and demonstrated a new method for overcoming two major hurdles facing solar energy. By developing a new antireflective coating that boosts the amount of sunlight captured by solar panels and allows those panels to absorb the entire solar spectrum from nearly any angle, the research team has moved academia and industry closer to realizing high-efficiency, cost-effective solar power."

This has the potential to revolutionize energy generation for residential use and transportation.

This follows hot on the heels of another major solar power breakthrough at Ohio state a few weeks ago. So, in the space of less than a month, we've learned we now have the capability absorb solar rays at almost any angle and at almost any wavelength. And combining the Rensselaer and OSU discoveries in a single device . . . now there's a revolution.

WOW. I cannot wait to see the next gen technology. Maybe it will be something worth getting for my house (though here in Florida, I'd still worry about hurricanes).
