Condo and HOA Law: Trayvon Martin tragedy in Central Florida HOA highlights need to know what association volunteers are doing!
Donna Berger asks some good questions about the Trayvon Martin killing. It appears that the killer claimed to be some sort of Neighborhood Watch in his gated HOA-run neighborhood. What did the HOA  know about his activities? What did they authorize or try to stop, if anything? And what should they have done or said?  As Berger notes, "In the coming weeks and months, more attention might turn to this Central Florida HOA especially in any civil actions the Martin family may bring."

Very interesting! Donna is the only CAI stalwart across the country that has said anything in public about this tragic incident.
I congratulate her.

But, where's CAI?

Yes, self proclaimed vigilantes, who take their idea of "justice" into their own hands! Akin to the horribly abusive and criminal Board Members, utilizing the entire HOA and "their power," to target, terrorize and fraudulently sue innocent homeowners, to carry out personal vendettas, create conflict for cash and property. This is a tragedy in America and I don't understand what it is about these abuses of power that people don't get. Of course, not until, it happens to someone they know, or love, will they even give a hoot! Wake up America. Or, maybe the words of Pastor Niemöller says it better:

When the Nazis Came for Me
by Pastor Martin Niemöller

When the Nazis came for the communists,
I remained silent;
I was not a communist..

When they locked up the social democrats,
I remained silent;
I was not a social democrat.

When they came for the trade unionists,
I did not speak out;
I was not a trade unionist.

When they came for the Jews,
I didn't speak up,
because I wasn't a Jew.

When they came for me,
there was no-one left
to speak out.
