See the Berding and McKenzie discussion at ECHO on June 18!

Booth 319, Santa Clara Convention Center. And on Saturday, June 18, we have our public discussion about whether common interest housing can survive the challenges of the 21st century.

Be there!

Will this be recorded and available on the interwebz for those of us who can't be there?

As much as I disagree with Mr. Berding about a lot of things, and think some of his positions aren't just wrong but intellectually dishonest -- eg, "Sometimes it's hard to divorce the interests of the owners from the interests of the association. Because by definition the association are the owners." -- he has made some very important and insightful contributions to the discussion that everyone should be aware of.

Unlike some other HOA lawyers.

"whether common interest housing can survive"

A better question is

"Should so-called 'common interest' housing survive?"

I vote no.

Is this available anywhere on the internet yet?

As much as I disagree with Mr. Berding about certain things, and as much as I believe that some of his proposals are made in bad faith (as I stated in the comments section here), much of he writes should be required reading for policy makers. Even his critics, such as myself, would do well to listen to what he has to say.

I would really like to hear this discussion between Professor McKenzie and Mr. Berding.
