Rule breakers, beware: New law gives homeowners' associations more muscle - Home & Garden - MiamiHerald.com
Fred Pilot sent this link-seems that Florida is giving HOAs fining and even foreclosure power for rule violations.

But other HOA officers have their doubts -- and don't plan to use the new law. ``If you file a lien, what are you going to do? People don't have the money,'' said Miles Moss, president of the Kendall Federation of Homeowners Associations and president of his own 1,500-home Winston Park Homeowners Association.

It's great that Miles Moss doesn't plan to use the new law. But what about the next Board? It can't be said often enough - YOU'RE ONLY ONE ELECTION AWAY FROM DISASTER.

Wonder when the People can ever expect to get some protection from these heavy handed laws?

Yes . . . I'm really upset about the new ability to fine, because it was only in 2004 that the Jeb Bush admin removed that ability due to widespread abuses. There was a special commission, a series of meetings with homeowners, lots of fact finding (that Jan Bergemann knows all the details about), they revised the laws in 2004, and now, wham, it all falls apart.

The Bill of Rights is Dead

(By the CAI Munchkin Chorus)

Hi, ho we won the fight!
Now there’ll be no oversight!
Ding, dong, the Bill of Rights is dead!

Sunshine laws no longer shine!
We’ll meet in secret all the time!
Ding, dong the Bill of Rights is dead!

We’ll do just as we please!
Foreclosures, fines and “transfer fees!”
They’re on their knees! The Bill of Rights is dead!

It’s gone where the sun don’t shine and NOW we’re free to fine, so
Kiss all your rights goodbye!
And never challenge CAI!
Don’t even try: the Bill of Rights is dead!
