HOA Asks Vet to Remove Bumper Stickers

HOA Asks Vet to Remove Bumper Stickers: "DALLAS - Frank Larison is a disabled veteran with more than 14 years of service, including more than a year of combat duty in Vietnam.

The 58-year-old former Marine now finds himself under attack by his Dallas homeowners association for displaying seven decals on his vehicle supporting the Marine Corps.

'To me, it's being patriotic, and it shows that I served,' the veteran told FOX 4.

The board says the decals are advertisements that violate HOA rules, and must be covered or removed.

Otherwise, the homeowners association for The Woodlands II on The Creek --- where Larimore has lived for eight years --- says in a letter it will tow the car at Larimore's expense. The board also threatens to fine him $50 for any future incident."

Thanks to Rick Black for this link. This HOA action seems supremely idiotic.

Does anyone realize that this is the MANAGEMENT COMPANY that engages in the practice under the pretext of being an agent of the HOA Board?

Watch the FoxNews video and you'll see that other Board members were unaware of the threats being made by the management company.

These stories often fail to identify the name of the management company and/or the HOA attorney. The public would see the patterns emerge once the perps names started cropping up.

It's also important to touch on the motive as well as the parties. I suspect it's to generate lucrative but frivolous and wasteful litigation for the common interest development bar.

"I suspect it's to generate lucrative but frivolous and wasteful litigation for the common interest development bar." Mr. Pilot, it appears you are so right.
That "lucrative," element is clearly UNDERSTATED,
as, is said in the other comment above, "these stories often fail to identify the name of the management company and/or the HOA attorney. The public would see the patterns emerge once the perps names started cropping up." Many of those involved in these property thefts have and continue to become very wealthy, at the expense of the vulnerable and unsuspecting. These abusive groups and their associates, need to be tracked. Their names and discriminative, terroristic, illegal activities truthfully be reported in the mainstream press. Yes, even their local paper. The victims of these attacks, need and deserve, to be rectified.

In addition to identifying and disclosing the association’s management and law firms, the association’s insurer and insurance broker should be identified and noticed when the litigation is suspected of being frivolous, costly (OPM- other people’s money) and/or wasteful.

An association and its board of directors whose conduct finds them uninsurable may well curb their abusive ways or finally be compelled to accept personal financial responsibility for their conduct.

Assuming the Condo Association documents allow (most do), the Homeowners have the right to call for a special meeting and vote to remove the existing executive board.

This is a situation where a HOA board believes in being dictatorial instead of representing the homeowners.

Plus the president had no right to send the letter with a executive board vote.
