Rasmussen Reports™: Americans favor capitalism...by a slight majority: "Only 53% of American adults believe capitalism is better than socialism.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 20% disagree and say socialism is better. Twenty-seven percent (27%) are not sure which is better.
Adults under 30 are essentially evenly divided: 37% prefer capitalism, 33% socialism, and 30% are undecided. Thirty-somethings are a bit more supportive of the free-enterprise approach with 49% for capitalism and 26% for socialism. Adults over 40 strongly favor capitalism, and just 13% of those older Americans believe socialism is better."

I think that libertarian utopia that is being urged on us by advocates of CIDs may be lacking in popular support.

There isn't anything libertarian about a CID. Many of the terms are imposed by city/county governments under the pretext of "private contract". In many places, the city/county has its own right to enforce a "deed restriction" even though such a restriction is allegedly a "private contract". (In some places the city makes the offense a criminal offense). All of this for "deed restrictions" that would never pass muster as a city ordinance. The other problem with "deed restrictions" is that they are non-negotiable nor are they fungible. There is nothing libertarian about CIDs or deed restrictions. They are holdovers from feudalism that need to become extinct.
I agree that CIDs aren't libertarian, but libertarian writers can't say enough good things about them.
