Tonight at 10:00: Citizenship Test | Today's TMJ4 - Milwaukee, Wisconsin News, Weather, Sports, WTMJ | Local News: "TODAY’S TMJ4’s John Mercure spent an afternoon at the mall, and was more than a little surprised at some of the answers he got.

John Mercure: “Can you name one state that borders Mexico?”

“Umm, Canada,” one woman said.

John Mercure: “What is the name of our National Anthem?”

“The Declaration of Independence?” one person said."

Should have asked them the big followup: "How many times are you going to vote for Obama tomorrow?"

Mr. McKenzie-

I appreciate the links you provide, and your commentary is usually fairly intelligent.

However, during the political season you strayed from the typical focus on private urban governance and HOAs, and posted quite a bit of political news. Which is fine. This is your digital home.

But, comments like the one you made here undermine your scholastic integrity.

Sure, there's some ignorant Americans, but this just makes you seem rude. Why Obama? Why not McCain?

In summary, your punchline here is kind of sad. Why not have a literacy test at the polls while we're at it.

I don't mean to be the political correctness police around here, just wanted to publicly state that your pithiness subtracts from your otherwise respectable academic contributions.

Thanks.
